Good Friday

What is Good Friday and why does it matter for Christians?

Christian celebrate the death and crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday, the most solemn day of the Christian year. It falls on the Friday before Easter Sunday and matters because it commemorates the sacrifice that Jesus paid for our sins in Christianity. There’s usually a liturgy, a prayer, a hymn, and some meditation on Jesus’ pain and redemption and the ultimate act of love. A large number of Christians fast, pray and humble themselves to honor his death. It’s good because Jesus’ goodness, in opening up salvation and hope through His resurrection, was truly good. Good Friday is an integral part of Holy Week, before the glorious Sunday of Easter when Christians rejoice in the resurrection of Christ and His gift of eternal life.
