Who is Jesus Christ and why did He rise from the dead at Easter?
Christ, the central Jesus of Christianity, is the Son of God, or Savior of the world, according to Christians. The Christian faith is based on his gospel, crucifixion and resurrection.
Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus, the greatest miracle in Christian theology. Christians say that Jesus was crucified, died for our sins and buried. On the third day of His life, He rose again from the grave, showing that He was God, overcoming sin and death. This resurrection, for example, was interpreted as a guarantee of life-long life for all who accept him.
This resurrection of life is the culmination of Easter, the celebration of Holy Week by the Christians. Jesus’ resurrection provides Christians with hope, faith and the promise of a new birth, and Easter is therefore the most significant and most festive Christian celebration.
