Nest

Why is a nest important in Easter?

A nest during the Easter season is a nest decorated with Easter eggs that stand in for resurrection. Nest is an automatic bulwark of comfort and safety, just as Easter is the symbol of resurrection and hope for everlasting life.

Easter nests are generally constructed of straw, grass or artificial fibers, and they’re a clever centrepiece of Easter egg hunts or homes. These eggs in the nest stand for fertility, rebirth and the creation of new life, which is Easter.

This practice could also be interpreted in terms of spring’s more general symbolic meaning, since nests are the source of all fresh-born life within the animal kingdom. Most people make or receive a nest full of brightly coloured eggs for the Easter holiday because they love it and feel that they have an attachment to the resurrection and hope of the season.
